CCE's first Father's Day and Juneteenth community celebration brought families together around food, fellowship, culture, and play. Under the banner The Common Table: Fathers, Food & Family, we fed approximately 150 people at Paradise Creek Family Garden in National City.

Juneteenth commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of freedom in Galveston, Texas. Guided by the message “Freedom was declared. Now we build with it.”, CCE used the occasion to honor fathers while welcoming mothers, children, elders, and the entire community.

Families shared a free meal, music from two DJs, chess, Rubik's Cube activities, and space to connect. Woodstock's Pizza supported the celebration by donating pizza and gift cards, helping us serve approximately 150 community members.

This event also marked the beginning of CCE's relationship with Paradise Creek Family Garden, opening the door to continued service, food access, youth engagement, and community-building efforts. CCE was honored to welcome Marcus McNeill, former San Diego Chargers offensive tackle and two-time Pro Bowler.
